Counter-attacking batters are always a treat to watch and Josh Inglis stunned everyone with his assault on master pacer Jasprit Bumrah during the PBKS vs MI Qualifier 2 match in Ahmedabad. The Aussie batter scored two sixes and two fours in Bumrah’s first over as the viewers watched in disbelief.

‌After a rain delay of more than two hours, Mumbai Indians scored 203/6 in their allotted 20 overs against Punjab Kings in the second Qualifier in IPL 2025 at the Narendra Modi Stadium. They crossed the 200-run mark with the help of valuable contributions from Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Naman Dhir.

With 204 runs to go past Mumbai Indians to reach the summit clash of IPL 2025, PBKS started off slowly losing in-form opener Prabhsimran Singh in the third over with the score reading 13. But new batter Josh Inglis was not someone to back off from his counter-attacking instincts just because the occasion demanded, getting off the mark with a scooped boundary towards fine leg after moving away from the stumps.

But the best was yet to come as MI captain Hardik Pandya introduced Jasprit Bumrah in the fifth over in search of another wicket. Inglis started with a four in the pacer’s first ball and then slogged him for a six over long-on off the next. He repeated the sequence again after a dot ball flicking him for a four past square leg before uppercutting him for a six over the third man fielder.

For someone who had the best economy in this year’s IPL for a bowler who has bowled more than five overs, it came as a bolt from the blue. The pacer was shocked, evident from his reaction as it is not every day that someone scores 20 runs in a Bumrah over.

Twitter was in awe of Inglis’s courage and the highest level of skill as he channelled his inner McCullum to come up with an ultra-aggressive display.
